Can Veneers Be Removed?
For a truly dazzling smile, veneers are one of the best treatments that modern dentistry has to offer. The porcelain shells cover the front of your teeth, hiding any and all imperfections. They are usually placed for cosmetic purposes, but they have some restorative uses, too. What’s the process like? Can veneers be removed?
The Dental Veneer Process
Before placing any veneers, Dr. Curtis will examine your teeth. Most people with good oral health are eligible, but if your teeth are severely misaligned, you may want to address that first. Once you’re ready for veneers, we’ll shave a tiny amount of enamel from your teeth. This way, your veneers won’t look bulky. The customized shells are then bonded to your teeth and you have a new smile!
Can Veneers Be Removed From Your Teeth?
Because we remove some of your enamel, veneers are permanent. They are not meant to be removed. If you take good care of your teeth and make regular appointments with the dentist, your veneers should last for decades! They can still crack, however, and the tooth beneath a veneer can experience problems like decay. Any teeth that don’t have veneers can still stain, as well, which can make your smile’s color uneven. In these situations, veneers can be removed to address the problem, but you will need to replace them.
Dental Veneers at Curtis Family Dentistry in Mooresville, North Carolina
Dental veneers are a permanent treatment, so we only remove them if there’s a significant problem. They’re then replaced with new ones. If you choose to get dental veneers, it’s important to know that it’s not a reversible process because we have to remove tooth enamel. Thanks to their durability, veneers last for decades and don’t require special care!
