TMJ & TMD Treatment
The temporomandibular joint in the jaw can handle extreme stress and pressure. When the joint or the muscles and tendons are damaged, it can cause pain, discomfort and functional issues. Disorders that involve the temporomandibular joints and associated muscles are referred to as TMJ, TMJD or TMD. At Curtis Family Dentistry, we offer dental treatments to help our patients with TMJ get relief and improved function.
Those that have TMJ/TMD may have many different symptoms that are attributed to their condition. Often, someone with TMJ may be misdiagnosed, since not all symptoms are in the jaw area. While jaw and facial pain are common with TMD, some discomfort can be referred pain. Headaches, earaches and even neck pain can be caused by TMJ and misdiagnosed. It is important to come see us if you believe you may have TMJ for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
